Nothing like a broken air-conditioner at home to rejuvenate the desire to return to school...

So the damn air-conditioner, which was only just installed in my living room all of maaaybe two months ago after an epic standoff with my landlady, is broken. Again. For the second time in three weeks. And since my apartment seems to be a vacuum for hot, inert air, it has forced me to flee for cooler work environs.

I've finally managed to drag myself to the AUC Library (two days in a row and counting!), which has actually resulted in some productive behavior. I managed to locate an entire BOOK on relations between Korea and the Middle East, amazingly enough, though the task of trying to skim 220 pages of academic Arabic is a slow and painful process. I was quite amused, however, to discover that someone had stuffed seven Egyptian pounds in the middle of the book - my reward for pursuing a totally absurd topic?

Speaking of the absurd, I discovered last week that "Winter Sonata" is currently airing in Iraq on Kurdistan TV, which you can get via satellite here in Egypt. I was totally captivated, despite the fact that I had to decipher what was going on based on my 35% comprehension of the Korean dialogue and 15% filling in the blanks by guessing what the Kurdish subtitles said (based on my baseless assumption that there's at least *some* relationship between Arabic and Kurdish). For those of you who are curious, you can actually stream Kurdistan TV live from their website. I believe "Winter Sonata" is on Sunday-Thursday at 10AM EST, though the series will probably be finished early next week.
